Best Diver's Watch Pick for Extreme Winter Swimming

Watch Encyclopedia1,644

As a southerner who has never seen snow, my buddy texted me half a dozen winter swims. Besides the fact that it's hot under the water, winter swimming is great. It's warm under the water...

Winter swimwear in addition to winter swimming, which is of course a sport known because of Seiko. Winter swimmers are diving in extreme conditions of cold and at the same time it is a special kind of scuba professional sport.

For why Seiko only understands this sport, it is more of an advanced recreational diving sport as opposed to regular diving. Not only does it require some level of special training, but also a special set of equipment to do it safely.

Many brands of dive watches have special models from Seiko for divers in cold weather. Since their debut in 1965, Seiko's first dive watches have been a necessity for Japanese Antarctic research teams, opening a half-century-long chapter in diving.

Prospex is launching three new 42.7mm watches, the SPB263 and SPB26, in the Prospex USA Special Edition this year. They've all been tested by Emmy Award-winning cinematographer and extreme diver Becky KaganSchott during an expedition under the Great Lakes, from polar explorer Naomi Uemura's cold-weather-inspired Seiko Diver's Watches launched by polar explorer Naomi Uemura in 1970, when he was in some of the most extreme environments in the world.

This watch reinterprets the large biomorphic form of the 70's diver's watches favored by Uemura, today's fashion pioneer, the Prospex "Turtle" case, and establishes a new level of toughness. It also establishes a new level of toughness.

A crown protector is built into the watch at the four o'clock position to prevent the heavy drysuit from interfering with the action of the sleeves, while the standard unidirectional dive bezel and hard-faced stainless steel case and bracelet have been retained.

This new Prospex USA edition is rated to a depth of 200 meters (660 feet). The built-in 24-jewel Seiko 6R35 automatic core provides 70 hours of energy storage and manual and automatic winding. The watch also features LumiBrite-coated hands and labels to make the watch more legible in dark water.

This new Prospex USA Special Edition comes with a tri-fold locking clasp, and an expandable button. This allows the watch to be used on polar ice shelves and still look great.

On the dials of the three models of the Prospex Series USA Special Edition, a gradation of colors from white gray (SPB261). Ice blue (SPB263) and sea green (SPB263) gradient color tones, by the unique cold characteristics of the ice dive was also taken into account by Seiko. Not only does it echo the light and shadows on the glacier, but the image presented on the model also reminds the wearer of the track of a sled gliding across the icy wasteland.

To help the wearer read the hash marks on the minute scale, the color on the dial darkens as it radiates from the center of the watch until, when the bold hand reaches its darkest point, it will lighten again along the inner edge of the bezel. Making the overall package of the watch flawless.
